Something About Ourselves

In the city of Chattagram of the Chattagram district of the undivided Bangladesh between the years  1911 to 1928 eight children were born to Ranjanlal Sen and his wife Binodini Sen . The name of the sons were Rajat, Mohit, Dipti Kumar and Tridib Sen. The daughters names were Mrinalini, Anita, Chitra and Shikha. They were born and brought up in a big house surrounded by garden named “Sudha Kutir” in the bank of the river Karnaphuli. Nanda Kumar Sen was the zamindar of the Kayepara village near the river bank of the Karnaphuli. Among his three sons, the eldest was Ranjanlal, then Kiranlal and the youngest was Hiran Lal. Ranjanlal got married to the village kabiraj Jagat Chandra Sen.’s only daughter Binodini Sen.

During the British period Rajat Sen who was a follower of Surya Sen (Master Da) succumbed to his injuries when he confronted the British soldiers and died   martyr’s death in a place called Kalarpole on 6th May 1930. After few years the family were stunned t the sudden death of the second son of the family – poet and artist Mohit.

Four years later the rest of the brothers and sisters  took  part in the little magazine movement. Through their writing and painting, though they did not have any formal training in these fields. The result was the publication of such magazine ‘Sanccaika’, ‘Agamoni’, and ‘Dhumketu’.

After a long period of sixty years when www.dhumketu.org has been opened and the Dhumketu magazine has been Install in site, at this time the creators of ‘Dhumketu’ ‘Chitra’, ‘Shikha’ and ‘Tridib’ who are still present and they are there to put up their presentation. The rest have left us and have set out on their journey to the galaxy.
